  • Centenary Weekend, Event Details Released

The finer details of our centenary weekend have now taken shape!

You are invited to come along to both of these events! Take a look at the flyers below for more information, and remember to check out our Centenary page if you haven’t already. Follow the links on this page to register your interest, especially if you are a former member!

  • Take a look at our first Centenary Band Practice!

It happened! Many thanks to Dennis, Karen and Andy for dusting off their musical skills and having a go! For some the last time they played was 20 or 30 years ago!

We were missing buglers! If you used to play bugle, please consider coming along to the next practice on Saturday 29th August, from 9am-noon. That doesn’t mean that drummers and bell lyre players are exempt!

  • Junior & Company Section Cycle Ride

It’s been raining, it must be June! The Junior and Company Sections braved the weather for a gentle cycle ride a few months ago.

For many it was their first time cycling on the redways (MK cycle paths) and leisure paths along the many MK parks. The great thing with Milton Keynes, is that you’re never far from an underpass – very handy in dodging showers. As is the McDonalds at Westcroft, where we finished our route and missed a real downpour!

And with a rainy June comes a reminder of God’s promises.

  • Centenary Band Practices

Ahead of our centenary celebrations in September, we’d like to invite past members of the 1st Bletchley BB GB Band to a short series of band practices.

Ideally leading to a band item at the Past Members Day on Saturday 26th September. Even if you’re not around in September, we’d still love to see you at the practice!

    There will be refreshments!

  • Juniors walk the Monsal Trail

Well, as we endure the hottest May Bank Holiday weekend, I’m so glad that we headed to the Peak District on Saturday, and no later!

Our older Junior Section members walked a good 13.9km chunk of the Monsal Trail in the Peak District. More information about it here.

They did phenomenally well, in tough conditions – not the normal wet and cold tough. We completed the route in 5 hours, including a lovely stop for lunch (buttercup field) and, of course, ice cream at Hassop Station.

  • First Night Hike of 2026

Yesterday, the first Night Hike of 2026 done and dusted! Despite a downpour late in the afternoon, the evening was clear. With a 3/4 moon and clear skies we didn’t even need torches!

Well done to all for a good pace, and for scampering up Brickhill!

  • Remembrance Day Night Lights

For Remembrance Day this year, the Junior Section made poppy jar night lights.

    Lest we forget.

  • A fantastic result for our Juniors in the BIG Sleepover Quiz

    We came 16th! 🎉

A couple of weekends ago, our Junior Section took part in The Juniors BIG Sleepover, which was held simultaneously at more than 60 locations nationwide. 🛏

The event also included The Juniors BIG Sleepover Quiz, which included five tricky rounds, with groups up and down the country battling it out to try and come out on top.

Out of the 60+ teams who took part, we are pleased to say that we not only made it to the top 30, but that we came 16th overall! 🏅

A HUGE well done goes to our Junior Section members who worked so well together to produce this fantastic result. 👏

  • Remembering Stephen Foster

A message from our Captain on the sudden death of former member Stephen Foster:

It is with much sadness and shock that I need to report that one of our former members, Stephen Foster, died last month.

Stephen was a few years ahead of me in the company and one of those that inspired both in sport and as a member of our bugle band. I’m sure that many past members will remember him.

Please remember his family in your prayers at this time.

    Mark Churchill, Captain.
