End of Year BBQ – New Date

So we may have over ordered on the sun for our end of session BBQ!

Due to the extreme heat, the BBQ and BBGA will now take place on Thursday 21st, when temperatures are likely to be mid 20’s and not high 30’s. πŸ₯΅

Members and parents need to update their attendance status in OBM, if it’s different from what you originally entered.

See you all on Thursday at 6pm, at the Galilee Gardens around the back of the church.

We look forward to welcoming you!

This Week – International Team Games and Italy!

So this week, the Juniors started their training for the BB International Team Games. Having taken 2019, 2020 and 2021 off, it’s high time we got back at it!

Company section had an Italian flavoured evening, with emphasis on flavour! They started off with making their own pesto to fill some puff pastry treats – delicious. πŸ˜‹

This was followed by a crash course in Italian. Many thanks, or rather grazie molto to Mrs Havill!

Night Hike with the Company Section

On Tuesday evening the Company Section finally got their boots on for the much delayed Night Hike, originally planned for December. Given our time constraints they did well to cover the 3km (see the map below for more details). Once outside of Milton Keynes the sky cleared and we were able to confirm that the pole star and the compass line up! Who’d have thought that?

Thanks to Nicci and Simon for the surprise hot chocolate stop!

Christmas Decorating with the Anchors

The Anchors have been making and decorating edible melting snowmen in the run up to Christmas! These consisted of a biscuit, a marshmallow, icing and some decorations.

Before making these festive treats, the Anchors watched a short clip from Frozen 2, where Olaf the snowman melts away, sacrificing himself for Anna and the greater good of Arendelle. This was compared to how Jesus ‘melted away’ for us on the cross, sacrificing himself for the greater good – that our sins could be forgiven and that our relationship with God could be restored. The birth of Jesus at Christmas made this possible. Our edible melting snowmen remind us of this wonderful truth!

The Anchors certainly enjoyed eating them afterwards!
